The Fishes is part of a trio of pubs based across some of the finest locations in Oxfordshire – sister pubs include The Fleece in Witney and The Thatch in Thame.
Based in North Hinksey and easily accessible from the city, or the A34, The Fishes is a classic pub that serves excellent food. I always think you can judge popularity before arrival on how hard it is to get a table at short notice, and this is true at The Fishes.
The menu is well thought out, and with their deli boards, the creators have obviously thought about the dynamic of eating out – bringing people together.
We opted for the fish option deli board, packed full of smoked salmon, tempura prawns, haddock, prawn cocktail and breads it is the perfect way to start a meal.
For main course, I opted for one of the specials – Hake on a bed of Chorizo and pea risotto, which was undoubtedly one of the best fish risotto dishes I have had.
The Fishes is a robust, classy pub that serves food that will keep you coming back for more, and I for one thoroughly recommend it.
